VIKTOR TORRES

Viktor Torres (1993) is a Mexican artist  from Guadalajara, currently based in Mexico City.

His practice is primarily articulated through painting, as part of a constantly evolving visual investigation.

His work lies at the intersection of the pictorial and the spatial, exploring the construction of images that move between the domestic, the ornamental, and the affective.

In recent years, his practice has focused on reflecting on the ways in which the everyday and the decorative shape contemporary imaginaries, incorporating references to landscapes, objects, and sensibilities linked to specific cultural contexts. In this sense,

he maintains a sustained interest in developing a practice rooted in Mexico and the Latin American context, as an active field of symbolic production, tension, and signification.

Viktor deeply believes that our approach to art should be as selfless as possible, a process guided by innocence. Only in this way can we reveal what we carry within, that which we truly wish to  express. Art is an act of humanity; an opening to the unknown, which we must always approach with willingness and learn, knowing that there will always be something to discover. This practice implies recognizing art not only as a means of communication with the outside world, but, more importantly, as a path of connection, learning, and inner dialogue, for navigating life itself. Art reminds us of our inability to control everything, but it also invites us to be better observers, to feel and reflect on constant questions.

To inhabit the world meaningfully, we must accept existence, becoming, as best we can.

My artistic practice is an attempt to recognize myself at the point where the "other" is also recognized.
